The heart ring

10 years ago, hurt and broken hearted I bought this ring, to remind myself in the power of Love. That true Love exists.  That someone will come along, a prayer I persistently prayed.  As I wait I served the Lord through sharing my talents on music.

And so it happens, one day  almost a year after the pandemic he came. God answered my prayer in his own time.

First thing you do is try again and confirm a friend request. Even it is tiring there are good sides of Gama Checkpoint Duty and having a Gama Checkpoint Family…

Soon I'll say 'I do".

Thanks for the pictures Ading Engr Joyce.

And so again Deo Gratias… Bless Me Lord as I enter another phase in my life.

When 75% Grade Excels

"I said: 'It's okay ma. If you give me 78, what would I do with the excess grade? I only need 75 to go to the stage. Why ask me to exert effort to get a 90? How many hours do I need to spend studying? I did not want to study," he added.

Duterte, who won by landslide in 2016, noted that his Cabinet members, who excelled in academics, are now taking orders from someone who was used to getting 75.

"Do not pressure your children. Others hurt their children. I said 75 is okay. Duterte style," he said.

***My co intern in #sluclinicallaboratories said the same thing, almost 23 years ago. I had always been grade concious. I heard him whispered to another co-intern. “Bakit kasi gusto nya pa ng mataas na grade, pwd namang 75 lang, aanhin naman nya ang sobra sobra” He’s now an MD, specializing on Neurosurgery (hope i got that right 😆) Yup, medals, high grades, you’ll never know, success may come even if you’re grade is 75 or your achievement is being a runner-up of a singing contest or SLU BSMT Batch 1997's version of actor Keanu Reeves. Cheer up!

The Physics of Love Goblin ep4

Kim In-yook,  “The Physics of Love” by Kim In-yook

“Mass is not proportional to volume. A girl as small as a violet. A girl who moves like a flower petal is pulling me toward her with more force than her mass. Just then, like Newton’s apple, I rolled toward her without stopping until I fell on her, with a thump. With a thump. My heart keeps bouncing between the sky and the ground. It was my first love.”

HandWritten

My Medical Technology Batch 97 NoteBook
It was not one of my luckiest days. A 86/M A/C came in complaining about my handwriting. Saying that no doctor can diagnose him because of it.  It was already April 28, 4 days after the urinalysis result was released. Complaints should be done the same day. Just like a WHO representative the urinalysis result looks like an evaluation form, with red checklist on the side. So to stop him complaining, I have it computer printed. And he still complained. Now I can relate to the sarcasm of House, MD.

I am  a practicing Med Tech for almost 18 years. And most of my results were handwritten, all of us, MDs, RNs, RMs and fellow RMTs had understood each other flaws on our writings because of the demand of our work.Medical transcription do not exists.Handwritten, not even typed or through any Word Processors. Our MDs are used to writing novels. From their Doctors Notes, to the Medical Abstract for Claims in PhilHealth. Government work is never easy here in the Philippines You will make use of any resources available. Even the methodology is already obsolete you have to use it. I have done many APPs (annual procurement plan), action plans, and PRs (purchase requests) and I am used to receiving only 50% of what I have requested. It is understandable, there are too many mouths to feed. And obviously, the milking cows of the country are We, the taxpayers and the Bagong Bayani, OFWs.

Dra. J. Ong, Internist in OSC. Together we did save some lives.

Among all the rest, He was the only one who complained. My batch mates had passed just relying on my notes. They could just sit, relax and daydream, and when it comes to examination time they can photocopy my notes. During our time then, where powerpoint presentation are not yet available, we have to listen to our teachers and copy what is written on the blackboard. Teaching and Studying was more challenging during our time. My notebooks were Xerox machines favorite.

I had even done a “Secretarial Job” for SLU HSH pathology lab. Assisting the handsome Resident Pathologist, Even the specialists understood my steno notes.

And the truth be told. Even if “kinahig pa ng Manok” ang sulat ni Juan, Pedro, Maria, at ni Inday. Pag galing sa taong mahal mo, you will treasure if for life. Kahit pinatranslate, pinabasa ko pa sa 10 tao para maintidihan na “I love you” pala ang nakasulat, kahit hieroglyphics, itatago yan sa Baul ng kayamanan. Labelling as Happy Thoughts, Inspiration, Source of Strength, or just Love Love Love.

Pity, maybe Lolo B.McClean, did not received any Custom Made, Handwritten Love Letters. I wonder where are his Anak and Apos, or just any adopted Apo. Even if you have money, you cannot buy happiness, love and loyalty. In his world, where there are many apples, 4 seasons, perfection, slaves with work, cleanliness where does love to ancestors exist? Lolo McClean, our homegrown M&E WHO evaluator, the people you are barking at most of the time are simple BHWs, mere volunteers. The richest volunteers.

Good Friday And Forever

The Love for Sunsets... and The Endless Search for Forever...

Forever for most is synonymous to a lifetime. The question then is, whose lifetime, Mine or Your's? Is it the same as being an immortal. Loving for more than a Thousand Years. More than the existence of the SUN, the EARTH and the MOON.

For MLTR (Michael Learns to Rock), Forever just means 25 minutes..

For 5SOS (Five Seconds of Summer), Forever is just 5 seconds..

Well for Me, Forever is just a Glimpse of a Sunset. The color varies everyday. Sunsets and
Sunrises occurs only in seconds. The most beautiful sight of everyday. So for me, Forever is a Sunset.

Lolo Kiko....Pope Francis

Papal Visit to the Philippines

Facebook of Bro Bo. Sanchez

Pope Francis’ “Homily from the Heart” in Tacloban

TACLOBAN HOMILY (transcribed by Zenit.org)
[In English]: If you allow me, I prefer today to speak in Spanish. I have a translator, a good translator. May I do this? May I? [Applause] Thank you very much.
[Simultaneous translation:]
The first reading that we heard says that we have a high priest who is capable of sympathizing with our weaknesses, one who has similarly been tested in every way but without sin. Jesus is like us. Jesus lived like us. He is the same as us in every respect, except sin.
Because he was not a sinner, but to be more like us, he assumed our condition and our sin. He made himself unto sin. This is what St. Paul tells us. And Jesus always goes before us. And when we pass and experience a cross, he passed there before us. And if today we find ourselves 14 months afterward here, 14 months precisely after the typhoon Yolanda hit, it is because we have the security of knowing that we’re not going to weaken in our faith because Jesus has been there before us. [applause] In his passion, he assumed all our pain.
I’d like to tell you something close to my heart. When I saw, from Rome, that catastrophe, I felt that I had to be here. [applause]
And on those very days, I decided to come here [applause].
I am here to be with you. A little bit late, I have to say, but I’m here [applause].
I have come to tell you that Jesus is Lord, that he never lets us down. “Father,” you might say to me, “I was let down because I’ve lost so many things, I lost my house, my livelihood, my family. I’ve illness.” It’s true if you would say that. And I respect those sentiments. But Jesus there nailed to the cross [indicating the crucifix]. And from there, he does not let us down. [applause]
He was consecrated as Lord on that throne and there he experienced all calamities that we experience. Jesus is Lord. And he is Lord from the cross. He is there for you. Therefore he is capable of understanding us, as we heard in the first reading. In everything, the same as us. That is why we have a Lord who is capable of crying with us, capable of walking with us in the most difficult moments of life.
So many of you have lost everything. I don’t know what to say to you. But the Lord does know what to say to you. Some of you lost part of your families. All I can do is keep silence. And I walk with you all with my silent heart.
Many of you have asked the Lord, “Why Lord?” And to each of you, to your heart, Christ responds from his heart upon the cross.
I have no more words to tell you. Let us look to Christ. He is the Lord. And he understands us because he underwent all the trials that we, that you have experienced.
And beside the cross was his mother. We are like this little child just there, who in moments when we have so much pain, when we no longer understand anything, all we can do is grab hold of her hand firmly, and say, Mom, as a child does to his mother when he or she feels fear. It is perhaps the only word that we can say in such difficult times: Mother, Mom.
Let us together hold a moment of silence. Let us look to Christ on the cross. He understands us because he endured everything. And let us look to our mother, and like that little child, let us grab old of her mantle, and with a true heart, say Mother. In silence, let us say this prayer. Say to the mother what you feel in your hearts.
[silence]
We are not alone. Let us know that we have a mother Mary and our great brother, Jesus. We are not alone. And we also have many brothers who in this moment of catastrophe came to help you. And we too, because of this, we feel more brothers and sisters because we helped each other.
This is what comes from my heart and forgive me if I have no other words to express this.
But please know Jesus never lets you down. Please know that the love and tenderness of Mother Mary never lets you down. And holding on to her mantle and with the power that comes from Jesus’ love on the cross, let us move forward, always forward. And walk together as brothers and sisters in the Lord, forward.
[In English:] Thank you very much.

[After Communion, the Pope added a prayer in Spanish. Here is the simultaneous translation provided by his translator:]
We have just celebrated the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ. Jesus preceded us. He went there before us on the journey. And he accompanies us every time we come together to pray and celebrate. Thank you Lord for being today with us. Thank you Lord for sharing in our pain. Thank you Lord for giving us hope. Thank you Lord for your great mercy. Thank you Lord because you wished to be like one of us. Thank you Lord because you are always near to us even in the moments of the cross. Thank you Lord for giving us hope. Lord, may hope never be robbed from us, taken away from us. Thank you Lord because in the moments of greatest darkness in your life, on the cross, you remembered us and you left us a mother, your mother. Thank you Lord for not leaving us as orphans

Buon Natale

"Buon Natale" is a song by Dave Cavanaugh and written by Bob Saffer & Frank Linale. Christmas, as it is celebrated in Italy, has two origins: the familiar traditions of Christianity blended with the pagan traditions predating the Christmas era. The greatest feast of the ancient Roman Empire, "Saturnalia" (a winter solstice celebration), just happens to coincide with the Christmas celebrations of the Advent. Consequently, Christmas fairs, merry-making and torch processions, honor not only the birth of Christ, but also the birth of the "Unconquered Sun." "Natale," the Italian word for Christmas, is literally the translation for "birthday."

Buon Natale, means Merry Christmas to you
Buon Natale to everyone, Happy New Year and lots of fun
Buon Natale, may all your wishes come true
Buon Natale in Italy means a Merry Christmas to you

Far away across the sea in sunny Italy
There's a quaint little town
Not a clock has been wound
For over a century

They don't know the time or year
And no one seems to care
And this is the reason the Christmas season
Is celebrated all year

Oh, Buon Natale, a Merry Christmas to you
Buon Natale to everyone, Happy New Year and lots of fun
Buon Natale, may all your wishes come true
Buon Natale to Italy means a Merry Christmas to you

Power and Responsibility

"Religion is one failure of humanity as it created a clash of civilizations."
August 22, www.facebook.com/teofilo.padilla

In the quoutation, So it means then that we are putting the blame, the clash of civilizations to RELIGION.

Can we just say that whatever we have, talents, brains, power, tools, it is how we use it.

For example a Gun. A soldier needs his gun to protect his people. Same goes a criminal will use a gun for his crimes. So the blame goes to the GUN????

Another one... A knife. A chef needs a knife to prepare the best recipe. And another criminal can use this knife to kill. The blame goes to the KNIFE???

So convict the knife and the gun, not the criminal who used it?

Let's use this famous line, With great power comes great responsibility. You can use this power for either good or evil. You can either be the hero, spiderman, or the villain, Lex Luthor. You are free to choose.

Tower Power

Let me first tell the story of the Tokyo Tower. It was a souvenir item gift to me by my Architect friend, Mae. She went to Japan for work assignment years ago. And of course, since I am always the favorite friend, I received  a “pasalubong” every time they come home. One of the items she gave me is a small replica of Tokyo tower. When I received it, I was confused. Sabi ko sa sarili, galing sya ng Japan, pero ang souvenir item ko “Eiffel Tower”? You see, the only tower I know then is Eiffel tower.

And then I showed the item to Joyce, my youngest sis who’s also an Engineer, who also went for Japan for 3 months work assignment. And she told me, “Ate, Tokyo tower iyan eh”. Kahit kaylan ang ate niya ang alam lang na tower eh Eiffel tower, hehehe. And that’s the only time I knew that it is called Tokyo tower.

All the pictures on this post, resembles one from the other right? But they are different, unique in their own ways. Two major differences, first is the location where they commonly got their name and second their purpose.

Tower power? They are huge, one can recognize them from a distance. They we’re built to withstood the test of time. And their purpose is very important to people’s lives. That’s why they have a certain power. Most are fabricated from steel.

Superman, Man of Steel is a fictional character, but there are people who are working with and on steel structures like the towers. Different may seem from each one but serving a noble purpose. They are the real heroes, the real Men and Women of Steel.

When Work Means Leaving Home

Everyone was called to do a mission. Salaries for professionals here in the Philippines are not enough to finance a kid in college. So parents applied for work abroad and endure being away from their family.  It takes a lot of sacrifice and will to hold on and wait. As they say money is hard to earn, easy to spend.

Few weeks ago, I’ve talked to a mother of a batch mate in high school. I asked her, “Uwi po ba sya this Christmas?” And she answered, “Makakauwi naman sya, naawa ako sa apo ko sa computer na lang sila nag uusap ng Papa nya.” For a Lola, seeing their Apo’s longing for a father is saddening. My father like some of the rest was an OFW. A father who has a great plan for his family.
Good thing there is technology. Way back our time, we rely on letters, postcards and voice tapes. Telephone lines were installed in Zambales on the year 1990s. That was the year when I was still in college. My father told me this story that he had to go out  and find a telephone booth on a negative 0 degree  Celsius temperature just to make a call.

This anecdote is Papa’s favorite. It happened when I was 4 year old. I still remember it though. It was a very memorable one. Papa left for abroad when I was still a baby so when he came back when I was four I don’t recognize him. I’d rather stay then in my Nanay/Yaya’s house than stay home. For a little girl it takes more than a picture. The children of today are a lot more blest than us way back then.

It had always been difficult to have the most important person of your life on the other side of the world. And it’s hurting more when people whom you consider as friend tend to take it a joke and would not understand such scenario. They cannot even understand why they invest on some businesses just to increase their cash flow. Blessed are you when your immediate family, your husband and your kid is just around after an 8 hour work. My challenge then, can you leave then for not just mere months but rather for a few years just to earn. Don’t you feel that longing, to be hugged and kissed? Try putting yourself  in our shoes.  We tend to judge them addicted to social network and the internet, but did you ever know that the internet is their only view deck outside of their work. My heart goes to them. And so it had always been my heart belongs to one among them.

Just Right for Sunset (full)

Holy Wednesday April 04 2012

I don’t know what got into me that I lighted the candle, prayed the rosary, and seeing that it was already 6pm I then prayed the Angelus. After praying I asked Papa where were the 4 kids, my tropa , and he said that they are in the port. So I brought my camera coz I know in a few minutes it will be sunset. When I reached the port the kids are not there, but then there’s the sunset. And here’s the picture I took that day.

At 6:05 PM

Sunset 1
Sunset 2

In just a few minutes life can change.

The sun disappears in the horizon

The original draft of this anecdote were written on a connected facebook wall. I directly wrote it then using my Samsung Galaxy Y phone, therefore I don’t have the draft for the said composition. Like what I have said on the first paragraph,  I really don’t know what got into me that day. The words I wrote, and of course it’s effect to the person to whom I wrote it. And he asked me a very difficult question, which at that time I really did not understand and shocked my senses.  But I did answer him, that if he thought that way, so be it. And so it does. And if the question can only be asked in the most simple way, the usual way, the answer is “Yes”. Not directly said but read between the lines, the answer is just right there and I know that he understood.

We haven't watched the sunset together, but most of our lives we have been looking at the same thing, in different time, on different horizons and on different vantage point. I thank God He gave me you. Deo Gratias!!!

Bee Honest

May 27, 2011

Honesty is such a lonely word, everyone is so untrue.
It is actually a lyrics from a song titled “Honesty”. During those times then, my routine activity every morning I wake up is checking my FB profile. And of course checking the news feed. I was engaged then to my fiancé of 4 years. And seeing his comments had made me mad. Why? I knew him very well, and those comments he made was not like him. It was like seeing someone change right in front of your eyes.

September of the same year we broke up. And months after that, it was the only time I have noticed this college batchmate of mine. He posted this on his wall on the same date. He actually liked my one sentence wall post about honesty. Weird, isn’t it?

I asked Chona why would someone do it. And she said, “Ate, cheering squad, moral support.Nakikipag away ka eh.”
I am new then with the social networking site. Thus when I learned how it works, I imitated him. And indeed he is a good teacher. And I’ll ask now who started it all? Is it Him or Me? A twist of fate. Though it took me months, good thing I noticed, just right in time.

Hidden Treasures

"I am not the best person but perhaps God might had just given pity upon me that he had given few remarkable characteristics that no one had ever recognized except YOU."
